We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Placement Student to join our Device Development team for a one-year placement. This role offers a combination of testing, analysis, and design, giving you valuable experience in the medical device and pharmaceutical product development space. You will play a key role in testing and supporting the design of innovative inhalers and other pharmaceutical devices, working closely with a team of engineers and scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of inhalers and pharmaceutical products through innovative design and testing efforts.
- Plan and execute test programs to verify product concepts, designs, and system functionality.
- Design, build, or source test rigs to support development testing activities.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of components, equipment, and materials.
- Prepare documentation and devices for test activities, conduct those tests, and report the findings clearly and accurately.
- Perform technical analyses such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and tolerance analyses to ensure device design assurance.
- Contribute to project documentation, including requirements specifications, risk analyses, and design outputs like technical drawings and specifications.
- Work with manufacturing and pharmaceutical science departments to optimize device designs for production, ensuring proper drug delivery performance.
Skills & Qualifications
- Good computer literacy is essential, including experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. CAD experience is a plus.
- Strong practical and analytical skills with a balance of hands-on and technical expertise.
- High attention to detail with accurate observation and recording abilities.
- A well-organized approach to work planning and execution.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team of engineers and scientists.
