The A-Side: A day in the life
A physically demanding role working with the site services team, studio runners and technicians to set up studio equipment. Co-ordination of day to day running of the site, ensuring a safe & pleasant working environment for all staff and visitors. To continually strive to improve and enhance site services and ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation in support of the Site Services Manager.
The B-Side: skills & experience
Studios
- Provide manual assistance in all studio equipment set ups, from rehearsals to major events.
- This includes daily liaison with studio runners and engineers and the setting up of staging, chairs, acoustic screens and general assistance moving equipment across all studios as required.
- Provide support to the site services team for events and projects at Abbey Road Studios.
- Co-ordinate and set up studio equipment as per agreed plans.
- Supervise local crews in the moving of equipment, pre and post event.
- Book & liaise with security and cleaning teams for events incorporating H&S considerations.
- Co-ordinate relocation of studio equipment to facilitate refurbishment projects.
- Provide daily general ad hoc manual handling assistance for all Abbey Road staff, including deliveries from reception such as Abbey Road merchandise and lacquer boxes.
- Provide cover and support for weekend studio sessions as necessary, liaising with engineers and runners and assist with all studio set up requirements.
Site services
- Co-ordinate day-to-day site operations and maintenance at Abbey Road Studios, not exhaustively M&E, building fabric, cleaning and security.
- A point of contact and escalation for all building operational issues, including out of hours emergencies (e.g. fire or intruder alarm, AC failure). A point of contact for daily communication with contract cleaning company supervisor.
- Assist the site services team with fire drills and emergency evacuations.
- Work with the Site Services team on monitoring PPM and reactive maintenance & contractor project works.
- Assist in ensuring technical and studio departments are aware of all potential contractor impact on studio sessions both in and outside of normal office hours.
- Carry out light building maintenance and general DIY tasks, e.g. regular installation of Abbey Road wall art frames.
- Assist in office moves and organise removal of furniture and delivery of furniture items.
- Cover security lunch break at reception.
- Any ad hoc duties required by the Site Services Manager and wider management team.
- To represent & enhance the Abbey Road Studio image and business at all times.
Person specification
Necessary
- Flexibility in working hours to suit Studio needs
- Regularly work weekends when the business requires it, with weekday time off in lieu (approximate & flexible guideline 20 weekends per year)
- Good general Health & Safety awareness and knowledge
- Competent in manual handling procedures & techniques
- A basic knowledge of M&E systems, i.e. air conditioning
- Ability to perform general DIY tasks
- Pro-active, energetic & enthusiastic
- Proven communication, relationship building and customer service skills and attitude
- Proven experience of working under pressure in a calm and organised manner
- Competent in multi-tasking & problem solving
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel in a courteous and polite manner
- Ability to deal with sensitive information conscientiously and confidentially Familiar with Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Word and Excel)
Desirable:
- A proven track record in facilities with operational experience at assistant / co-ordinator level IOSH experience
