The A Side: A Day in The Life

This role will work closely with our Global Metadata Operations team in providing support for the continued development and improvement of our tools and processes in the pursuit of global repertoire metadata excellence and compliance.

The B side: skills & experience

Be technical

  • The successful candidate will develop existing (and implement new) processes, applications and tools to assist the Global Metadata Operations team in day to day activity, projects and change management pertaining to UMG repertoire metadata
  • Propose innovative technical solutions to the identified problem domains

Be data-driven

  • Provide assistance in analysis and comparison of large datasets, mapping and aligning different schema in preparation for migration/ingestion
  • Provide reporting from various data sources to assist in project-based work as well as servicing regular requests from the business for information
  • An ability to grasp the business context of the data is critical

Be collaborative

  • Assist in ensuring access to our repertoire systems for new users is administered and audited correctly
  • Work with the business and IT teams in developing and delivering visualisation tools to enhance our current business practices and provide increasingly effective insight to key stakeholders

Personal specification

Necessary

  • Strong, effective communication skills
  • Ability to quickly understand complex business problems
  • Ability to quickly learn new, emerging technologies and envisage their use within UMG’s business
  • Experience of Agile development methodology
  • Programming (R or Python desirable or similar)
  • Database design / SQL or similar
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Generation of graphical output
  • An understanding of the recorded music industry processes
  • A good understanding of key music business concepts is critical 

Desirable

  • Experience within the music industry
  • Experience with MS PowerBI / Google Big Query or similar
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar
  • Full-stack developer
