The Procurement Department deliver support to enable the delivery of projects within time parameters to meet project milestones and targets, collaborating with others to define the project scope taking into account Public Contract Regulations.

This is a busy and vibrant department supporting very diverse customers, both internal and external, the variety of goods and services that the team are responsible for is vast and the Procurement professionals are involved in a huge range of related Commercial activity.

What opportunities does the graduate scheme cover?

Roles and examples of the type of work/projects you would be involved in include:

  • Delivering procurement support across the organisation, providing advice, guidance and completion of projects and tenders for the growing R&D portfolio within UKAEA.
  • Providing support and guidance for the organisation, supporting the team in delivering a first-class procurement service.
  • Negotiating with the relevant parties such as external companies to arrive at appropriate commercial agreements.
  • Assisting customers in recognising and accurately specifying their contractual requirements and developing appropriate contractual strategies.
  • Ensuring UKAEA is compliant with European Commission and UK directives for procurement in the public sector
  • Supporting the organisation in the achievement of its own milestones and impacting the achievement of BEIS targets and milestones.

Our scheme is accredited by the The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) as a professional development scheme.

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must have completed your degree within the past two years. It does not need to be a Procurement & Logistics or Supply Chain Management degree, but you must be able to demonstrate your passion for Procurement and be able to identify how you feel your current degree will enable you in a Procurement environment.

You should be self-motivated, demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and have an interest in the development of cleaner energy. What is the Recruitment Process? 

Pre-Screen Interviews will commence the week of the 15th of May 2023 and an on-site Assessment Centre will be held on the 31st of May 2023.
