TVS are working as part of Team Leidos, which is a team of defence and logistics specialists, supporting a major contract providing an end to end supply chain service delivering commodity and inventory savings to the UK Ministry of Defence.

Our Defence clothing commodity team is now recruiting for a Trainee PPE Technician to work for TVS at the Team Leidos offices at Emersons Green in Bristol as part of a vibrant and dynamic team committed to transforming the way the MOD works.

Job responsibilities

  • Working within a team to deliver customer requirements of PPE items, including, but not limited to, eyewear, headwear, hearing protection and gloves.
  • To ensure all PPE items within your range adhere to the specification and are compliant to the customer’s requirements and any relevant legislation (CE Certification etc.)
  • Provide customer facing and Industry facing support and guidance with regards to PPE items in your area.
  • Ensuring all items within your area are managed through life, maintaining critical path information and including Acquisition Safety Management and Product Quality Control
  • Reporting to the Clothing Technical Team Manager and working alongside and in support of technical professionals, you will be required to gain full knowledge of all PPE items within your area.

As a Junior PPE Technical manager, you will be expected to learn

  • Overarching processes and procedures
  • PPE legislation and certification
  • Day to day requirements of technical data packs and information
  • Understanding of the IT processes
  • Understanding customer requirements
  • Research and development requirements
  • Defect process and requirements

Following a period of training and development activity you will be expected to

  • Undertake the processing of technical support
  • Maintain technical product details within IT systems
  • Complete research and development including product trials
  • Complete management of technical samples including receipts, storage, retrieval and maintenance
  • Attend one off productions at supplier locations as and when required potentially worldwide
  • Manage and complete specification reviews ensuring all are up to date
  • Be responsible for all technical parts of the re-let process, including marking matrixes, evaluations and input required throughout the process
  • Attend contract review meetings with suppliers
  • Ensure all defects are followed through and completed in a timely manner

Qualifications and skills

  • Basic PPE Knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good judgement
  • Attention to detail
  • Organised and methodical
  • Eager and willing to learn

This role may suit a recent graduate or someone who has an interest in PPE.
