The role

At Lubrizol, we have a growing student community in the UK with over 30 placements each year across a number of roles.

An exciting role has arisen within the Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI) Product Safety and Compliance Department (PSCD), joining an established team of regulatory professionals.

As a student within EMEAI PSCD, you will gain real work experience alongside a niche scientific role, within one of the world’s premier specialty chemical companies. Offering an office-based position that allows you to use your scientific background and training in a non-academic, non-research environment whilst gaining valuable experience within a multi-billion-dollar business.

Along with completing projects assigned to you by your supervisor or colleagues, you will be a key member of the team ensuring global compliance with chemical health and safety regulations. This includes, but not is limited to, managing areas of the global supply chain and preparing regulatory documents to ensure compliance and fulfil customer expectations.

What you will be doing

  • Manage and conduct projects in line with Lubrizol’s legal obligations to health, safety and environmental regulations of our current and developmental chemistries
  • You will be responsible for ensuring timeliness and accuracy of data/projects to performance metrics and internal and external customer requirements
  • Supporting run the business activities from the region, including but not limited to product regulatory reviews and regulatory systems data management in SAP
  • Attending relevant meetings with members of both your team, other functions of PSCD and the wider business
  • Creating and showcasing a technical poster for the Hazelwood Innovation Symposium
  • Presenting at the research and development technical joint talks towards the end of your placement
  • Working in a close-knit team within a regulatory specialty.
  • Collaborating with global PSCD colleagues across multiple time zones on projects and run the business activities.
  • Collaborating with other groups outside of PSCD across all areas of the business.

What you will need

  • You must be studying towards a science related degree involving a year in industry, achieving a 2:1 or above (Chemistry, biochemistry or similar modules would be advantageous but not necessary)
  • You should have a C or above in A Level (or equivalent) Mathematics or Science based subject (A-level - or equivalent - Chemistry advantageous but not necessary)
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in an office-based team environment
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and appropriately manage priorities for self and global organisation
  • Detail orientated and results driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with computer relational databases and common business-related software programmes (e.g. Excel)
  • Experienced in capturing, interpreting and manipulating data and databases

What you will gain
