Overview

The Researcher will work in our Strategy & Communications business to support and inform Teneo clients and client teams with analysis and monitoring of traditional and social media. S/he will be integrated into and supervised by client teams. They will be responsible for translating media coverage into business insights. In addition to daily and issues-based real-time media monitoring, researchers may help to identify and/or research new business opportunities. Researchers should be highly motivated and dedicated individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit and keen critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor traditional and social media for clients, competitors and related events using a variety of inputs and tools. Compile daily media reports, analyse and summarise coverage and flag important articles and issues to client teams in real-time
  • Ensure daily reports and ongoing monitoring is delivered on a timely basis
  • Provide client team support, attend internal meetings to gain understanding of the key issues, seek feedback from account leaders on a regular basis and draw the team’s attention to interesting or unexpected news themes for discussion
  • Conduct in-depth research on topics of importance to clients and internal teams
  • Provide analysis of major events related to capital markets (earnings calls, investor days, conferences, major transaction announcements, etc.), including intra-day updates of analyst sentiment and share price movement for clients to keep them informed
  • Assist client teams in developing presentations for client meetings
  • Provide other analysis, reports and support for the client teams as requested
  • Use AI tools appropriately to improve efficiency

Key Skills & Experience

  • Interest in current events and capital markets
  • Critical thinker who is eager to learn, detail-oriented and possesses strong research, communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to apply a logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and develop technical skills, and an understanding of business and financial performance
  • Ability to handle demanding assignments, think on your feet and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-starter who maintains a positive attitude
  • Team players with ability to juggle multiple assignments and work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with media databases and social media analytics tools is a plus (e.g. Factiva, Gorkana, Tveyes, Cision, Brandwatch, etc.)
