The purpose of the Sustainability Graduate is to support Taylor Wimpey in the development of new ways of thinking and working to support meeting its commitment of becoming a sustainable business. This includes the delivery of a range of environmental action programmes as part of our Environment Strategy and Net Zero Transition Plan, as well as disclosure, reporting and other ESG related duties.

What you will do

Support the team in the delivery of key Environment Strategy and Net Zero Transition Plan targets, including:

  • ​Science-based carbon reduction targets;
  • ​10% biodiversity net gain;
  • ​Priority wildlife enhancements;
  • ​Waste and water intensity reductions;
  • ​Associated supporting targets.
  • ​Liaise and communicate with BUs and other functions e.g. logistics, procurement, timber frame factory;
  • ​Create communication, preparing infographics and other engagement materials;
  • ​Analyse sustainability data, including waste, energy, water and carbon emissions data;
  • ​Research carbon, energy and water efficient products and technologies that could optimise TW’s processes and/or the homes it builds;
  • ​Support trials of plant and other products that can reduce TW’s environmental footprint; and
  • ​Preparing reports for wider dissemination within the business.

​​In addition to Environment Strategy-related work, the Sustainability Graduate will support a programme of disclosure and reporting activities for key benchmarks and reports including:

  • ​CDP 
  • ​Next Generation 
  • ​DJSI 
  • ​TW Annual and Sustainability Reports

​This work will involve, amongst others

  • ​Gathering sustainability data;
  • ​Liaising with TW Group functions;
  • ​Liaising with external consultants; and
  • ​Project management, with support from our TW Sustainability Analyst, our Head of Sustainability Operations, & our Director of Sustainability.

​​NOTE: This is the scope of work for the role and individuals are not expected to have a background in all or even most of the items, rather enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are more important.

What you will need

  • A degree in a construction, Built Environment or STEM related field.
  • Proficient in excel, PowerPoint and word
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate and committed about sustainability and housebuilding
  • Full UK driving license, access to own car and willingness to travel nationally to sites and offices
  • Analytical, data driven and commercial thinking
  • An understanding of business processes and communication tailored to different business audiences
  • Full indefinite UK working rights
