We are seeking a proactive Trainee with a Construction or Built Environment background to join our technical team to gain an insight into how to manage the adoption process for highways, sewers, and public open spaces (POS). You will ensure tight control of bonds and budgets, working closely with the Pre-construction engineering and adoptions manager . This role also involves managing historical infrastructure not available for adoption.

You will gain exposure and experience in:

  • To assist with all Health & Safety Method Statements and Risk Assessments are approved by H&S Regional Advisor prior to commencing maintenance works on completed sites.
  • Produce CDM Pre-construction Health and Safety Files where necessary. Ensure all Health & Safety Method Statements and Risk Assessments for approval by the Pre-construction engineering and adoptions manager prior to commencing maintenance works.
  • Participate in reviewing existing bond liability and identify where they can be reduced / eradicated.
  • Support the pre-construction engineering and adoptions manager with the Business Unit’s bond portfolio and identify the key triggers to facilitate reduction. Ensure the dates for these are clear and that all steps are identified, and the necessary inspections and certificates are applied for, with required works undertaken in the most cost efficient and timely way.
  • Assist with keeping the regional adoption schedule and completed estates report up to date and keep the Business Unit well within its bond limits.
  • Liaise with internal and external legal teams regarding agreements, deeds and land transfers.
  • Prior to sites finishing attend site closure meetings with pre-construction engineering and adoptions manager as well as relevant departments and to ensure that the relevant actions are instigated to allow the adoption process to commence bonds are reduced at all trigger points as soon as possible. This will include ensuring all works are on maintenance as soon as possible and managing the site during this period (organising repairs, maintenance contracts, liaising with external Contractors and dealing with customer queries).
  • Using AutoCAD to produce AdoptionsPlans for Highways, Sewers and POS areas.

What you will need: 

  • Previous experience in Ground working/landscaping or strong site experience, with the desire to progress into the field of adoptions (Preferred)
  • Drivers Licence and own mode of transport (Essential)
  • Strong Problem Solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills across a range of personnel
  • A Willingness to travel around your area 
  • Full indefinite UK working rights
