Working as a part of a small team providing accurate technical and quality support to ensure our services and products are at the highest standards as demanded by our customers.

The role requires a high degree of flexibility and initiative in order to provide guidance and support related to quality across all departments within our operations centre. The successful candidate will strive to continuously improve processes and procedures making a positive impact on our ways of working and our product delivery. The Quality Engineer will help ensure compliance with standards, identify issues, suggesr and recommend solutions and create quality documentation. The Quality Engineer will support the wider QHSE team, performing internal audits against international standards held by the business.

Principal accountabilities

  • Act as an Internal auditor, working to international standards held by the business.
  • Inspect / monitor the quality on the shop floor and in goods in area within the operation centre.
  • Ensure products meet the quality standards required to minimise quality costs and maximise customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
  • Remain up to date in knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO14001.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation.
  • Control and maintenance of skill matrixes and training records.
  • Control and maintenance of PPAP and concessions.
  • Test product / systems / procedure.
  • Drive continuous improvement on shop floor (eg. KAIZEN) to resolve issues highlighted by all audits/auditors. Facilitate feedback mechanisms for such improvements.
  • Develop and maintenance of FAT FTPR.
  • Drive standardisation of processes along with waste elimination.
  • Responsible for suppliers quality plans.  
  • Strong knowledge of core problem solving tools (PPAP, 8D, 5 WHY).
  • Foster and embed a right first-time approach, promoting a positive quality culture throughout the business.
  • Champion problem solving with use of tools such 8D, 5 WHY, ISHIKAWA, PPAP.
  • Final products sign off including build record and stamping plates.  
  • Support in measuring room when needed.
  • Liaise with production and engineering team to resolve and improve product and processes.
  • Maintain suppliers and contractors records and NCR’s.
  • Carry out supplier audits.
  • Support the QHSE Manager to investigate and close out complaints relating to quality in a timely manner. Ensure feedback on product quality is delivered to production regularly and in a constructive manner, utilising toolbox talks.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Internal auditor.
  • A certification in CMM would be advantageous.
