As a growing drug discovery organisation, we are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, talented individuals keen to carry out their year-long industrial placements beginning in August 2025. These will take place at our facilities located in Nottingham.
As a Bioinformatics IP student at Sygnature Discovery, you will work alongside your own personal mentor who will provide practical training and guidance, covering all aspects of the role. A placement in our bioinformatics group will offer an opportunity to work in the exciting field of bioinformatics and computational biology.
Your mentor will also stay in regular contact with your academic supervisor to ensure all course requirements for the placement are met.
Diving deep into Bioinformatics and Computational Biology with the primary focus of finding new drug targets and biomarkers, the successful candidate is likely to have strong programming skills, preferably in Python and be studying Biology or Chemistry at undergraduate level.
What you will do
The placement will involve one or more of the following:
- Development and validation of workflows using AlphaFold and AlphaFold Multimer.
- Testing of new developments to our proprietary target summary software including use of LLM’s
- Input into development of bespoke workflows as required.
- Opportunity to integrate with the broader department involved in Data Science and Computer Aided Drug Design.
Core requirements
- Enrolled on a Biology or Chemistry degree program with a “Year in Industry” component
- Passionate to learn about Bioinformatics and its practical application in drug discovery programs
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python
- Equipped with excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well within a team environment
