Regulation Industry Year Placements – Transmission

Duration: 12 months commencing June 2025

Location: Perth, Inverness or Glasgow

Salary: Circa £23,422 per annum (pro-rata)

Degree Discipline: Economics, Law, Engineering, Sciences, or Politics.

What is the role?

As a member of the Regulation team you will help the wider SSEN Transmission business understand the opportunities and barriers to delivering projects, new services, and consumer outcomes by translating existing policies and regulations and identifying upcoming reforms. You will work across a range of policy areas including, price controls, industry reform and wider net zero policy. You will support the team in the development and implementation of broader work packages, including the ASTI framework submissions and the enduring regulatory price controls.

Our Transmission Industry Year Placements provide real hands-on experience through a 12-month placement in our Regulation team. Throughout your placement, you will have the support of a business mentor and buddy who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential.

What do I need?

To be considered for the role, you will be studying a degree in Economics, Law, Engineering, Sciences, or Politics.

Our opportunities are open to students who are in their 2nd year of their degree onwards and will graduate between 2026 and 2028.

We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
