Role summary

As a member of the EMEA Centralised Payroll team you will assist with day-to-day operational tasks to help deliver the team objectives in managing payroll accounting across multiple entities within the EMEA region.

This will include elements of the month end close, variance analysis and audits. Together with ensuring the timely and accurate accounting for each country payroll and performing reconciliations of the payroll balance sheet control accounts for each legal entity.

Study for a professional qualification is available and the post holder will be encouraged to take on additional responsibilities as experience and department requirements allow. During the period up to qualification you should expect to gain experience working in various disciplines of the EMEA Centralised Payroll function.

What you will do

  • Assisting the accounting month end closing procedures and reconciliations to strict deadlines
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating and correcting differences
  • Assist in preparation of headcount analysis and variance analysis for actual costs versus plan/forecast, with significant variances investigated and justified where applicable to EMEA Payroll Controller
  • Full use of One Stream for balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly local variance commentary.
  • Assist in preparation of the accruals for holidays, month 13 & month 14, some bonuses, any adjustment requested and payroll reconciliation file for audit purpose
  • Assist in maintaining the internal Payroll accounting procedures, updating any changes in process and documenting new processes
  • Full use of One Stream for tasks management
  • Work on EMEA Payroll team projects and miscellaneous tasks, taking a proactive role in specifying, testing and supporting new initiatives such as development of new processes and internal controls
  • Work closely with, and foster relationships with global, centralised teams to ensure efficient outputs

What you will bring

  • Experience of working in a high performing team (Ideally Finance)
  • Working with business ERP systems (SAP experience desirable)
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets
  • Data Analysis skills and interest
  • Able to build good working relationships within and outside of the department
  • Degree (ideally a 2:1 or above)in a Finance / Business related subject

  • Holiday restrictions apply at month-ends, quarter ends and financial year end.
  • Required to work with complete confidentiality
  • Flexibility is required to assist in periods of high-volume of work
  • Study assistance for professional qualification is available, where Sophos will support and reimburse 100% training costs. This will be subject to a commitment of 12 months post exam/module success, repayable on a sliding scale if you leave, withdraw or fail to successfully complete the course.
