The Global Business Development & Digital Strategy team is responsible for negotiating commercial agreements with global and multi-territory digital partners, for supporting and giving guidance to local operating companies negotiating local agreements, and for pro-actively contributing to, regularly reviewing and articulating the digital business strategy. We are on the front line and we strive to be ahead of the curve and shape how customers connect with the music they love.

The role

As the Business Analyst Intern, you will be trained and exposed to digital distribution deal structures and strategies. You will contribute to ad hoc projects including researching markets and business opportunities, documenting and benchmarking commercial agreements, and conducting in depth business analysis while working closely with negotiators, business analysts across London and New York, as well as local Sony affiliates around the world.

You will establish yourself as a point of contact for queries relating to these areas by forging strong relationships across the business and with external contacts.

You will join a team of data-savvy negotiators and business analysts with strong work ethic and genuine team spirit, who focus on executing distribution partnerships with a variety of digital service providers around the world.

What you’ll do

You will provide analytical and administrative support to the Global Business Development & Digital Strategy team, and coordinate ongoing and ad hoc projects with the Global Business and Legal Affairs team, both based in London and New York.

  • Run analysis from large set of data (not just numbers, but also contracts, research etc.), pulling, visualizing, and presenting insights to instruct deal negotiations.
  • Maintain internal KPI trackers and tools using first-party partner reporting data.
  • Update and share key commercial parameters for benchmarking purposes.
  • Prepare business reviews and development activities with key partners.
  • Take minutes and isolate action points in department meetings and international conference calls.
  • Research and monitor the digital marketplace to identify and assess new revenue opportunities.
  • Gather information from local operating companies and share learnings regularly and effectively.

Who you are

  • You have a strong interest in the media & entertainment business and you enjoy tracking innovation and opportunities with new technologies, preferably with some work experience in these areas. A passion towards music is a plus.
  • You are confident in your analytical, numeracy and computing skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint. You have some knowledge and interest in data visualisation tools e.g. Alteryx, PowerBI or Tableau, and some experience working on financial modelling and quantitative business analysis.
  • You own your work: you demonstrate a high attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibilities;
  • You are highly organised, able to multi-task and you can work to deadlines while working independently.
  • You are team player with strong integrity who loves learning and gathering information systematically to establish facts and proactively put forward ideas and solutions.
  • You like to provide, receive, solicit and act on feedback.

  • The start date for the programme will be in January 2023.
