4th Floor Creative is Sony Music Entertainment UK’s in-house creative & strategy hub, launched in 2018 to unite Brand Partnerships, Sync, Visual Creative, Podcasting, Digital and Audience Development. Led by music industry powerhouse Cassandra Gracey, the London-based division works with Sony Music’s iconic labels – including Columbia, RCA, Commercial Group, Ministry of Sound, Black Butter, Relentless, Insanity – to orchestrate best-in-class activations and amplify artist and brand stories to connect with a global audience. 

The team

The Analytics team sits at the heart of the business, helping teams such as Label Marketing, Brands, Synch, Sales and International Marketing. The department is accountable for the awareness of both strategic and artist related business questions and uses data to help solve these problems. The Analytics team is part of the Sony Music UK’s Audience Development function (alongside Insight and CRM), sitting within 4th Floor Creative.

The role

You will be an integral part of the team helping coordinate and support the Analytics team with day-to-day requests, whether that be directly supporting our marketing teams on artist campaigns or working on centralised strategic projects. Our team are seen as thought-leaders and collaborators within the company; often offering insights into new emerging topics.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with Marketing / 4th Floor Creative to answer ad-hoc requests on both music and podcasting.
  • Working closely with the Analytics/Insight team to help support on projects.
  • Investigate social and streaming data to uncover insights for the business.
  • Learn how to use analytics software such as Alteryx for Data Manipulation, and Tableau for Data Visualisation & Dashboard Creation.
  • Learn SQL in order to tap into our rich databases of social and streaming data to aid with analysis.
  • Create comms assets, trend reports and presentations to help convey findings to the business.
  • Be accountable for the delivery, maintenance and development of a number of weekly reports.
  • Provide admin support for SVP, Digital & Audience Development when PA or Operations Manager is on holiday; i.e., diary management, meeting preparation, printing documents, greeting visitors (in-office as required)

Who you are

  • You know excel like the back of your hand and you may have had experience of using statistical package such as SPSS, SAS, eViews. You may also know SQL/Python or want to learnt them.
  • Good understanding of the music streaming landscape, music economics and social media platforms.
  • Highly Numerate – you need to like numbers and spotting patterns to be in analytics!
  • Detail Orientated – findings need to be precise and accurately reflect the data.
  • Problem Solving Mentality – not all our questions come with ready-made solutions, so you need to be able to think problems through.
  • Great Communicator – you will need to be able to clearly communicate findings to colleagues.
  • Good Organisation / Prioritisation Skills – we are a high-volume, fast-paced business.
  • Passionate About Music – You love music and have a strong interest in the industry and music consumers.
  • It helps if you are open to lots of different types of music as you could be working on any artist.

  • We do not require you to have a degree or qualification in order to apply for this internship but you do need to be over 18.
  • The start date for the programme will be in January 2023.
