Creating. Coding. Delivering. Software Engineering graduates create the products used by millions of customers. We use cutting-edge tech to develop everything from Sky Glass to Sky Mobile.

If you want to be a software developer, automated tester, reliability engineer or even specialise in a specific field of expertise in the future, then this programme is the one for you. Be behind the wheel and steer your software career in the direction you want, using our structured programme and endless tech opportunities.

What you’ll be doing

Our accelerated 7-month programme starts everyone in a dedicated 5-week bootcamp aimed at giving you all the functional training to get started. You’ll cover learning to create clean, well-structured and efficient code, agile delivery, continuous build and integration, security principles for software development, test driven development, pipelining, deployment and much more.

Afterwards, we’ll move into educational projects where you undertake a piece of product delivery that have real life implications alongside our experts. You may work on a Sky Go or Sky Glass project that looks at the way customer access the content they love, or contribute to our streaming capabilities in the UK, Europe or the United States. Or work with Gen AI or Machine Learning technologies to help drive efficiency across our business. The possibilities are endless.

We’ll then add in additional training based on where your interest lies to pump you up; ready to move into a delivery team where you’ll continue your career as an Associate Technologist.

Could you be in the team behind the next iteration of Sky Stream? Or Sky Glass? Whatever your project, you’ll be in the driving seat from day one. Make an impact and get all the support you need to start your career. There’s only one place you’ll see action like this – and that’s Sky.

What we’re looking for

The one essential requirement is that you have or will be graduating soon. It doesn’t matter what your degree is in.

Other skills we’re looking for include:

  • The ability to code using modern day coding languages
  • Have experience creating software applications using modern-day coding languages either at university, at home or in industry
  • Have a real passion for software and technology
  • Are a quick learner and a team player
  • And are aware of agile methodologies.

Your application journey

Step 1 – Submit your application on our system.

We’ll be asking for your personal details, academic information and anything else that you think would be relevant such as work experience.

Once your application has been submitted, you’ll be invited to complete our immersive digital assessments. This may land in your junk folder so don’t forget to check it.

Step 2 – Complete our two online digital assessments.

These look at your Sky fit, business fit, and your ability to code. Why not pop onto our dedicated Prep hub to familiarise yourself with some of these digital assessments before applying. You’ll have the opportunity to practice each of these assessments beforehand, so please read our email instructions carefully. We’ve added some tips to help you along the way.

You’ll be able to complete the coding assessment in any modern-day web language of your choosing. Please make sure you do practice tests before beginning this stage. We don’t expect to know everything so during this test you can also refer to websites or books.

Step 3 – Attend our in-person assessment centre

For the final stage, we’ll invite you to our assessment centre and give you some tasks to get to know you better. The day will give you a practical insight into what it’s like to work as a Software engineer and will assess your technical aptitude.

Once you’ve completed your assessment day, we’ll let you know when you can expect to hear back from us.

Reasonable adjustments – if you need us to make any adjustments to help you complete any stage of your application, let us know you submit your application and someone from our Early Careers team will get in touch.
