How to contribute to our vision

We are looking for both graduate and experienced Software Engineers who wish to work in the deployment of power converter control systems for the next generation of large multi-megawatt wind turbines. Located in our Glasgow city centre offices the successful candidates will find themselves working with experienced engineers within the Offshore Technology Department, to specify, implement, test, and deploy power converter control systems for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy wind turbines.

Depending on qualifications and experience these software engineer role(s) allow the successful candidates to participate with all aspects of the deployment of new control systems, right through from laboratory testing to turbine level testing, and in future support the deployment across the global fleet.

Some of your other tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • You will design, develop and implement new software features in line with our Software quality and Test Process.
  • Review relevant requirements, standards, and other documentation to clarify and understand software engineering requirements.
  • Completes the development of software test requirements for modules under development.
  • Occasionally you will be requested to complete remote site investigations and troubleshooting for our Electrical systems worldwide.
  • Analyze localization requirements and designs/adapts products and solutions accordingly.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical topics clearly and concisely.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative in finding innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Academic degree qualified in Software Engineering, or equivalent

These positions are open to both recently qualified graduate engineers or experienced engineers with a good background in C, C++ programming languages. Experience of any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Real time embedded control and implementation.
  • MATLAB, Simulink, Real Time Workshop code generation toolchain.
  • Google Test environment
  • Python, Perl, Java
  • IT Networking
  • Distributed revision-control tools such as Mercurial or GIT
  • Electrical Engineering
