Are you an ambitious final year undergraduate looking for a unique graduate programme?
Join us at Siemens Mobility and experience a programme that stands out from the rest. Could this be the exciting next step in your journey towards your career? If yes, then Siemens Mobility is the place for you!
The role
The Power Conversion team within Siemens have demonstrated ability to successfully deliver power conversion projects and support the integration of novel technology into UK railway, driving down the cost of UK electrification and decarbonisation through application of the full range of internationally proven electrification technologies and integration into legacy railway. This is a unique opportunity, to be part of a team of experts that is redefining what is possible in UK rail electrification.
Within the Power Conversion team, you will learn how to undertake outline and detailed design of railway electrification systems, initially under the supervision of experienced engineers but rapidly taking on more responsibilities. In addition to office based design, there will be a requirement to undertake site surveys and liaise with other disciplines and clients. Successful candidates will soon develop a detailed knowledge of railway infrastructure and how different engineering and non-engineering disciplines work together to create the whole system in a safety critical environment.
During your 2-year graduate scheme, you will have the opportunity to gain six months of experience and work in other teams within rail electrification, previous examples of which have been high voltage design, overhead line design and protection system design. Depending on the placement, you may be working away from your contracted location for a period of up to six months (funded by Siemens).
Graduates in the Rail Electrification business of Siemens will have opportunities to be involved in preparing the railways for a greener future on high profile electrification projects across the UK to be delivered in the next 5-10 years. Typical clients are Network Rail, Crossrail, London Underground and Docklands Light Railway, to name a few.
For the duration of the graduate scheme, you will take part in technical and professional training, with technical training delivered by the top engineers in the business over the course of several weeks. During these training weeks you will also have a chance to meet and challenge other early career professionals across Siemens Mobility and discuss different experiences, building connections for your burgeoning career.
