Many of our employees are also our customers, so we truly take pride in what we do! Employing people from across our communities and beyond, Severn Trent is an exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be curious, can be ‘Wonderfully You’ and where you can truly make an impact to our environment, now and for future generations.

Let’s tell you more

Apprenticeship Programmes are a great way to earn and learn! Our Apprentice Finance Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business. Entering an apprenticeship scheme with us involves working towards the role of a qualified professional by studying for level 3 and 4 AAT qualifications, earning a salary. Therefore, at Severn Trent we provide you the opportunity to hands-on experience and a formal qualification, enabling our apprentices to make a real lasting difference to our customers and communities, not just for now, but far into the future.

You’ll be supported every step of the way. Your role will be to gain practical experience in a number of teams developing your knowledge and understanding of Severn Trent and the finance processes. All of this will allow you to further develop your problem-solving and analysis skills so you can communicate data effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders. Furthermore, you’ll study for an accounting qualification as well as gaining practical experience. You’ll get to spend time in a number of different areas of finance to build your knowledge.

How will the programme work

You will be based at Severn Trent Centre in Coventry, the heart of our operating patch. The programme requires you to complete 3 placements throughout your time in the role, gaining exposure in different areas of the department so that you are equipped with the right skills to build your career here at Severn Trent.

You will study towards your AAT qualification. Studies take roughly 3 years and are to be completed alongside the programme in your own time, so commitment, prioritisation and organisation will be a must.

In this exciting programme, you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your 1-1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team.

Entry criteria

For this Level 3 apprenticeship (leading onto a level 4), we require applicants to have achieved (or expect to achieve) a minimum of 5 GCSE’S Equivalent of grades A*to C (5 to 9) and must include Maths, English Literature and English Language.

Role expectations post apprenticeship

By the end of this programme, you will take up an assistant accountant role, where you will be able to put your skills to action.

What will you learn
