The Equipment Support Group (ESG) is responsible the Installation, Uptime reliability and Yield performance of high-tech state of the art manufacturing equipment used in the cleanroom production of magnetic thin film heads; with Photolithography, Vacuum Deposition/ Etch, Electroplating and Metrology being the core principals used in the manufacturing of the nanoscale engineered devices; the process steps and equipment used are similar with those of semi-conductor wafer fabs.

The ESG group work closely with Process, Facilities, R&D and Industrial Engineering groups to drive best in class results through all aspects of equipment health performance factors for these high-cost capital assets. We welcome graduates from all relevant engineering disciplines.

About the role

You will have responsibility for the performance of these complex and specialized manufacturing systems; you will liaise with OEM engineers from a range of worldwide suppliers, as well as internal engineers and technicians from other functional groups. With a blend and mix of hands-on troubleshooting and data analysis, every day will present a different challenge.

Main tasks

  • Analysis of equipment performance data and develop action plans.
  • Development and Automation of KPI’s and strategies for early detection and control.
  • Planning and co-ordination of equipment installation and EHS considerations.
  • Maximising equipment throughput and yield performance.
  • Troubleshoot, Diagnose and Manage machine hard down events.
  • Develop design changes for improvement in performance.
  • Be involved in cross functional teams.
  • Liase with your counterpart in our sister plant in Minneapolis to ensure shared learning and congruency of approach.

About you

  • Strong communication skills, with excellent oral and written updates on projects or tasks.
  • Strong Computing skills.
  • The ability and confidence to work individually and as part of a team depending on requirements.
  • Have logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Have ability to learn other engineering skills outside of your core area of study.
  • Be able to work directly hands-on and able to learn fundamental electrical and mechanical diagnosis skills.

Your experience includes

  • Recently graduated from or in the final year of your degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in an Electronic, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering related degree programme.

This is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week, on-site working.
