The Facilities engineering team have responsibility for services that support a high tech 24/7 manufacturing environment.  The manufacturing cleanrooms & equipment, utilise a wide range of facilities supplies (chilled water, heating and ventilation systems, compressed air, vacuum, and exhaust) system. These systems are totally reliant on the performance of a vast of electrical supply network, so it is vital that our electrical infrastructure be designed, operated, and maintained to the required specifications and health and safety standards to enable the manufacture of leading-edge technology nanoscale, magnetic recording heads for data storage applications to be produced.

There is an exciting opportunity as an intern to join the Facilities Engineering Team; your supporting role is for the delivery of electrical and electrical energy related programmes, projects, and tasks in the areas: Safety, Maintenance, Network robustness & Energy Efficiency.

About the role

  • Provide support for incumbent Electrical Engineer
  • Data logging and analysis of electrical usage, electrical loading & equipment reliability.
  • Update and develop Electrical Asset Registers. 
  • Enable electrical discrimination studies.
  • Survey for new installations.
  • Prepare evidence file for corporate audits.
  • Roll out of energy efficiency programmes e.g. LED lighting, Variable Speed Drives
  • Review and update of an Electrical Safety Handbook and included safety programmes (Arc Flash, LOTO, Training)
  • Create a programme of Electrical Maintenance for systems including (UPS, PAT, PFC, Lighting replacement etc…)

About you

  • Be available to start your internship on 1st September 2025 and finish on 21st August 2026
  • Currently studying 3rd level honours degree in Electrical Engineering that requires Industrial placement as part of a sandwich industrial placement.

  • Problem solving techniques.
  • Relevant Course Projects

You might also have

  • Experience in the use of electrical design software.
  • Competency in MS Excel
  • Data analytics experience
  • Good communication skills

This is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week, on-site working. The placement dates are: Starting on Monday, 1st September 2025 and finishing Friday, 21st August 2026
