You will gain valuable experience on your programme through a variety of engineering placements, learning from a team of industry experts as you go. These will be based across our Glasgow HQ, Whitelee Windfarm (the UK’s largest onshore windfarm) and our other various sites located across Scotland, so you’ll get to learn and work on renewable technology up close.

What you’ll be doing

As a Graduate Engineer at ScottishPower Renewables, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, construction, and operation of some of the world’s largest onshore wind farms. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage in diverse projects at various stages, allowing you to apply your engineering skills in technical planning, project management, and analysis while contributing to our Net Zero goals.

Throughout the programme, you will receive structured training that will enhance your skills and knowledge in the renewables sector. You will work closely with suppliers in the technical team, reviewing tender processes for essential equipment and visiting factories and test sites to understand emerging technologies.

In the Construction team, you’ll gain hands-on experience on-site, ensuring designs are implemented safely and efficiently while coordinating with contractors to resolve technical challenges.

Additionally, as part of the Operation and Maintenance team, you will help maintain our assets, enhancing the availability of wind turbines across our wind farms. You may also assist with data analysis to adapt our maintenance strategies to evolving needs or focus on the technical side by reviewing service requests, writing specifications, and submitting design modifications.

Your graduate placements, complemented by ongoing training, will provide a comprehensive understanding of engineering in the renewables sector, and enable you to contribute to the development of critical projects.

Minimum Criteria - Honours Degree at a minimum of 2:2 (or equivalent) in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil / Energy / Power Engineering / Instrumentation & Control, or similar
