As a Distribution and Transmission Network Operator, SP Energy Networks keeps the electricity flowing to homes and businesses throughout Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Shropshire. The energy landscape is changing fast as the way our customers and communities generate, consume, and interact with energy evolves.

Our role is to decarbonise our network through technology and innovation and to support the UK’s journey to Net Zero through electrification. We need to maximise the efficiency of our network to optimise the transmission and distribution of electricity generated from renewables, reducing electricity losses and allowing us to move away from fossil fuels.

With Transmission and Distribution networks designed for predictable, stable demand, it’s vital we upgrade our network to create the flexibility required to cope with the extensive changes to electricity demand, generation, and consumer behaviour.

What you’ll be doing

This is an opportunity to put everything you have learned about behavioural psychology and how humans respond to their environment into practice in a new and evolving sector. Your day-to-day will include attending cyber meetings with a human risk element and brainstorming ways we can ensure our cyber processes and technologies encourage compliance from our SPEN colleagues – this includes office staff but also our field staff who work on the ground in our substations etc.

You will also make use of your research skills including analysing quantitative and qualitative data and presenting this in a way that is understandable to others, including senior management.

You will also be able to get involved in awareness event design and development, communications and marketing, and management of a champions network. By blending your knowledge of psychology with our cyber expertise, we will reinforce the cyber resilience of SP Energy Networks.

What you’ll bring

There will be the opportunity to meet people from across the company, understand the variety of roles and responsibilities and then find ways to best support them in their environment. This role is not just about the tasks; it's about connecting, inspiring, and making an impact to ensure that cyber is understood across the business.
