Scotiabank is offering a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on experience within our Global Capital Markets Summer Internship programme commencing in June 2025.

This 10-week Internship is aimed at students in their penultimate year of study who are keen to learn and have a curiosity in the financial markets. The programme allows interns to rotate across multiple areas, giving them the opportunity to gain insight into the daily workings of several Global Capital Markets desks including:

  • Fixed Income Trading and Sales
  • FX Trading and Sales
  • CMF: Collateral Management Funding
  • Emerging Markets Sales
  • Debt Capital Markets
  • Global Equities including Prime Services

What can you expect from the Summer Internship?

  • Shadowing traders to learn risk management techniques, and develop key trading/market making skills
  • Shadowing sales who cover global clients including official institutions, bank treasury desks, global asset managers, pension funds and alternative asset managers
  • Providing a solutions-based coverage model including cash, interest rate derivatives, inflation derivatives, options, FX, repo and bespoke structured solutions across a variety of different currencies
  • Interacting with stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the global markets and products, with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world situations
  • Completing projects set by teams including preparing market commentary, analysing client trading data, and other ad hoc tasks

Our Summer Internship is designed to give you an insight into what life at Scotiabank is really like so, in addition to the individual rotations, interns will take part in a centralised programme of activities including a weekly speaker series with leaders from across the Bank, peer to peer intern presentations, as well as social and networking events.

Interns will also be expected to deliver a final presentation to leaders within Capital Markets, as well as be given the opportunity to take part in a CSR activity alongside one of our chosen charities in either raising money or working on a challenge benefiting that particular charity.

Upon completion of the internship, exceptional interns will be considered for entry onto our 2026 Global Capital Markets Rotational Graduate Programme where they will continue on a rotational scheme with the goal of obtaining a permanent position within Global Banking and Markets.

Unlike other graduate programmes, Scotiabank aims to give successful candidates responsibilities far greater than other programmes to enhance the pace of learning versus their industry peers.
