You need to be personable, adaptable, and flexible in your approach to solving problems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, innovative and analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity about financial markets, global trends and economics, a collaborative and flexible mindset and an interest in a career in accounting are essential. Embracing new technologies, particularly AI, and having a growth mindset are also important.

The base

We're based in the City of London - close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre and have everything we need to work flexibly.

The department

The Finance department is responsible for managing Schroders' financial resources, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions. The department is structured around key functions such as Financial Planning & Analysis, , Finance Operations, Accounting and Financial Reporting, serving diverse stakeholders including internal business units, senior management, banks, financial institutions, tax authorities, regulatory bodies, shareholders, and more.

Some of your tasks may include

  • Participation in the month end close, balance sheet controls, analytical review and reporting processes
  • Supporting Finance and the wider business with ad-hoc requests for analysis
  • Projects designed to improve the efficiency and service provided by Finance Teams
  • Potential to be involved in the annual budget process
  • Analyzing financial statements and reports to support decision-making processes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Conducting financial research and presenting the findings to senior colleagues.

The knowledge, skills, and qualifications we're looking for

  • An honours degree or equivalent – we're not fussed when it comes to your degree subject or predicted grade.
  • You will be in your penultimate year of study. Unfortunately, we no longer accept applications from final year students considering further studies (i.e., Masters) upon completion of the undergraduate course.

The programme

Our 2025 Summer Internship Programme starts on Monday 9 June 2025 and runs for 10 weeks, ending on Friday 15 August 2025. This programme will provide you with a unique introduction to the investment management industry and how the Finance team operates within it. You'll receive introductory training and opportunities to network with people across the business. During your internship, you will be assigned to a team within the Finance department, where you will work on live projects and shadow leaders across the business. Some of your tasks may include:
