SCP, part of the RSK Group, is looking for a Graduate Drainage/Highways Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. To be considered for this role you will live within a commutable distance to Chelmsford. You will be joining a growing team, who cares greatly about the development, training and diversity of their growing workforce.

Key responsibilities 

  • A Graduate engineer will show commitment to professional development through continual evidence of IPD progress and CPD reporting.
  • Maintain and develop technical or management capability through CPD, attending internal and external seminars regularly.
  • Self-Develop and understanding and appreciate their role within design team and timescales available for undertaking required works for your role and others working on projects.
  • Plan and manage own resources and ability to input into resource plans to clients programmes to achieve deadlines.
  • Use your ingenuity and own resourcefulness to develop an ability to provide design strategies and briefs to be developed by junior staff, whilst overseeing and guiding them through the detailed stage of the design.
  • Develop an understanding of the stages of design and the detailed output required at each stage within your chosen field of expertise through self-learning and working with senior colleagues.

Person specification 

  • Graduate Engineers will be educated to degree level or HNC level with relevant further learning experience.
  • No prior knowledge of the full engineering / development process is expected, but a keen interest should be evidenced
  • A basic understanding of the role and career progression routes and aspirations
  • Self-motivated and ambitious to progress their professional qualifications through IPD
  • Graduate Engineers will be able to utilise their own ingenuity and resourcefulness to develop quickly
  • A good self-manager of time and work.
