Central Alliance part of the RSK Group have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Geo-environmental Engineer to join the team in Wakefield, UK.

The role is based out of the Wakefield Office, but can predominantly be worked from any location within the UK, as the role involves work in the field and travel, with overnight stays in local accommodation.

We are offering the role on a full-time, permanent basis, however, we will consider applications from those seeking less hours.

Accountable to the respective Line / Project Manager, this role provides support to the Geo division through the allocation of tasks/activities and resources, as prioritised and directed by the Senior Engineer or Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the supervision of ground investigation works (mentoring / shadowing provided).
  • Travel throughout the UK (with working away from home required ~ (80% of time), remainder of time working out of the Wakefield office (20% of role)
  • Attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses, such as PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, CAT, First Aid and manual handling training.
  • Logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2020
  • Installation and monitoring of a range of instrumentation, including but not limited to: gas & groundwater, inclinometer, vibrating wire piezometer (VWP), magnetic extensometers, water level divers, across numerous, varying bespoke projects.
  • Undertake gas & groundwater sampling.
  • Support the Geo, Survey and Applied Technologies departments with site-based projects, as required.
  • Timely data management, processing and reporting.
  • Assist with the maintenance and organisation of the yard, including arranging, sorting, picking and delivery of soil samples.
  • Oversee monitoring equipment hiring/off-hiring, maintenance, servicing and repairs.
  • Adhere to all RSK company policies and adhere to client policies and procedures when on site.
  • Supported by the company, maintain and develop technical knowledge, such as British Standards and industry standards.

About you

  • Ability to follow instructions, work part of a multi-disciplinary team and also work solo, using own initiative.

  • Ability to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times.
  • Familiar with (leading to competent) use of data management tools and reporting software.

  • Ability to work remotely around the UK, including from home when agreed and approved. Possibility of some overseas travel.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, when required.
  • A manual, valid UK driving license.
  • Unrestricted work rights in United Kingdom.
