RML develop high performance road car derivatives and deliver advanced automotive technology for OEMs, build prototypes, show cars and continuation models, as well as restoring historic road and racing cars. About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a graduate to join our Simulation team as a Graduate Simulation Engineer. You will be involved in developing and enhancing RML’s simulation capabilities, including vehicle simulation software and Matlab/Simulink toolboxes, using subversion control for traceable software development. You will also support the Simulation team in identifying and testing new battery cells, maintaining a knowledge base for holistic vehicle performance evaluation, and conducting Multiphysics analyses from CAD processing to results optimization. Additionally, you will assist in creating engineering guides and standards, apply RML procedures efficiently, utilise the RML 5C Concerns Process, and collaborate with the wider engineering team and stakeholders to optimize design and ensure accurate lap time simulations.

You will be degree qualified with experience of simulation of a vehicle sub system/components as part of a Formula Student Team or during work placement. You will have an awareness of :

  • the use of Matlab /Simulink and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • the production and checking of engineering documents and reports.
  • structured problem-solving approaches and analytical tools such as 8D and Ishikawa.
  • the application/selection of relevant engineering analytical techniques, manufacturing processes, materials specifications & standard parts.
  • applicable regulatory requirements and standards to produce designs to satisfy any such requirements.

You will also have an understanding of physics, including but not limited to structural loads, constraints, degrees of freedom, heat transfer mechanisms, fluid dynamics and some knowledge of Control Theory.
