Job summary

Assessment of component non-conformance reported by manufacturing supply chain. Interpret component measurement machine reports, component and tooling drawings and supporting technical data.

  • Validate findings in terms of fit, form & function. Do tolerance stack-up calculations and assess effect of non-conformance on mating components, in adherence with applicable tools and processes.
  • Formulate reports and recommendations to Non-conformance Authority. Engage in two-way feedback.
  • Conduct minor design alteration assessments, approval process gate presentation and feedback with design authority. Drawing alteration using CAM software.

The role will be hybrid with a requirement to work a minimum of 2 days a week from Customer Site (Preferably: Huddersfield, UK)

Job responsibilities

  • HND, HNC or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Production/Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent, with experience of design engineering in practice.
  • Knowledge of Military standards and their operation is essential.
  • Experience of CAM (Solid Edge) modelling.
  • Experience of being involved in design solutions and modelling/drafting
  • Good understanding in interpretation & application of GD & T principles.
  • Working knowledge of limits, fits and tolerances of parts will be an added advantage
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively

Essential skills/qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maths or Physics.
  • Skill sets in systems engineering and configuration engineering
  • Ability to use your own initiative and act independently as required – requirements and tasks are often fluid in nature and it is essential that you are comfortable and able to thrive in this type of environment.
  • Pro-active with the ability to think creatively.

Desirable skills/qualifications

  • Experience in Task Leading duties, including QMS documentation.
  • Mentoring.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence in presenting information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • General Military aircraft domain knowledge and interest.

Qualifications

  • HND/HNC, degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng) in a relevant STEM-based subject or equivalent experience.
