Our Training Contracts provide the perfect transition from university to the professional world. With a full and balanced introduction to the legal profession, alongside high-quality work and unique levels of responsibility and client exposure, you’ll enjoy development that takes your interests, ambitions and needs into account.

About the role

On our two-year training programme, you’ll enjoy the chance to build both the technical legal skills and complementary skills you need to become a newly-qualified Solicitor and business advisor.

Throughout the programme you’ll gain broad exposure to different areas of the firm by moving seat every six months. The training in each seat is ‘front loaded’ to enable you to quickly develop legal knowledge of each area and take on real responsibility. When you qualify, you’ll have fully informed idea of which practice areas interest you and can take your career to the next level in your chosen specialism.

Our Graduate Development Team will support you throughout your Training Contract, from liaising with the wider business on seat allocation, to meeting with you regularly to offer personal or professional support and guidance.

Pinsent Masons will transition to the new SQE route to qualification for our September 2024 trainee intake. For trainees joining us in 2024, students will have studied for, taken and passed all of SQE 1 & 2 before starting. Details of Firm sponsorship for the SQE 1& 2 will be available in due course.

As well as undertaking high-quality work with the opportunity for early responsibility, throughout your programme, you can look forward to:

  • ongoing development and learning which will equip you with a variety of skills
  • first-class training at the beginning of your Training Contract and at the start of each seat, ensuring you understand the work of each department from the outset
  • experience responsibility from an early stage whilst being supervised and supported
  • experiencing various practice areas
  • working with and learning from solicitors who are leaders in their respective fields
  • a non-hierarchical structure with the emphasis on approachability and a collegiate working culture
