If you’re an aspiring software developer with a passion for programming and a desire to expand your current skillset, this could be the perfect place for you!
During your placement year, you’ll be fully integrated into one of our talented development teams where you will work on real projects that will make a direct impact on our business. Based at our office on Birmingham Business Park, you will spend 12 months gaining exposure to the ever-growing world of technology and expanding your knowledge on the software development life cycle.

What to expect
We offer lots of support and a structured learning plan to ensure you gain all the skills you need to succeed with us. So, what will your placement year look like?
- We will kickstart the scheme with an initial settling in period including a business induction and coding boot camp. You’ll get to understand pinewood.ai’s wider business, meet key people, and bring yourself up to speed on the technologies we use
- You will spend 12 months working in one of our talented development teams, where you’ll have continuous guidance from your mentor, and you’ll help to create innovative software for our customers
- You’ll undertake regular technical workshops including JavaScript, debugging, unit testing & SQL

About you
We don’t expect our placement students to know everything. We look for those with a passion for technology and programming, a strong team ethic and solid communication skills. As long as you have a genuine desire to learn and develop your skillset, we want to support you in achieving your goals. You will also need:
- To be a 2nd year university student studying Computer Science or something similar
- Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset
- A keen interest in software and technology that goes beyond your academic study
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude to learning and a desire to develop your personal and professional skills
