We are looking to appoint a Graduate Thermal Modelling Engineer based in one of our Midlands offices or in London, who will undertake dynamic thermal modelling and simulation work and assist in other areas if required (e.g. renewable energy assessments,energy audits, BREEAM, mechanical services design, etc).
Our office locations for this role are based in the centre of Leicester/Nottingham/Birmingham and London, with excellent public transport links and discounted car parking nearby. Whilst there will be homeworking, as a graduate you will be based in the office more, to ensure you have the hands-on support and guidance needed to develop your career.
Our sustainability and thermal modelling specialists are part of a dedicated Sustainability and Energy team and work regularly with our other departments across the variety of sectors,therefore you will benefit from the skills/expertise across the practice.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing and running thermal modelling simulations on a wide range of building types
- Contributing to the delivery in projects of:
- Building Regulations compliance
- Thermal comfort calculations
- Daylight calculations
- Natural ventilation
- Operational energy and carbon calculations
- Actively liaising with architects, engineers and members of the S&E team to develop sustainable buildings
- Prepare technical reports and relevant aspects of tender specifications
- Monitoring and effectively managing clients, initiatives, proposals and projects related to sustainable strategies and design
- Helping to ensure projects are delivered on time

About you
We are looking to expand our team with dynamic, enthusiastic, responsible, and practical people with a passion to make sustainability an integral part of design, construction and operation of buildings.
Our ideal Graduate Thermal Modelling Engineer will have
- Relevant degree level qualification (MSc desirable)
- Relevant experience or industrial placements desirable
- Experienced in the use of IES or other similar software packages; ability to prepare thermal models and undertake heating and cooling loads calculations, daylight modelling, Part L calculations, natural ventilation simulations and overheating analysis. - Working knowledge of operational energy calculations using TM54 and strong data processing and scripting skills (Excel, Python, etc)
It would be nice for you to have
- Knowledge of current legislation (e.g. new Part L) and industry best practice (UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, UK GBC, LETI, etc) - Team player with strong communication skills
- Looking to progress and develop within Pick Everard
- Knowledge Building Services mechanical design
- Knowledge/experience in BREEAM - Experience in the use of Rhino/Grasshopper and associated modelling packages
