The role and the team you’ll be a part of

Ofcom is looking for talented individuals to join their dynamic two-year graduate programme, a rotational experience designed to give you hands-on exposure across the full spectrum of our regulatory work. With four, six-month placements across diverse teams, you'll dive into impactful projects that shape telecoms, broadcasting, online safety, and more. 

As an Ofcom graduate, you could join teams focused on promoting effective competition in telecoms, strengthening public service broadcasting, or setting strategic direction for the sectors we regulate. Opportunities also include the Online Safety Group, where you may help shape regulatory frameworks for online safety or supervise digital platforms. 

In our Enforcement teams, you'll play a key role in protecting consumers—conducting regulatory investigations or assessing audience complaints against the Broadcasting Code. With each rotation offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on UK communications. 

Throughout the programme, you’ll deepen your understanding of the critical issues facing some of the UK’s largest industries, from telecoms to broadcasting, whilst actively contributing to the policies that drive change. This opportunity allows you to apply for you existing skills and knowledge, building on communication abilities and practical experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of different project teams, leading on an aspect of the project as well as supporting Project Leads in driving overall progress.  
  • Gather and analyse evidence, engage with stakeholders to understand their views and summarise for colleagues.  
  • Contribute to work stream development and group discussions, present your analysis and collaborate with specialist colleagues to develop future options. 
  • Draft clear and accurate documents, with support where required. 
  • Use professional/operational knowledge and expertise to deliver priorities they are accountable for on time, and to a high standard, 
  • Challenge thinking and contribute to ideas for how to improve. 
  • Understand and apply key organisational policies and procedures which help manage Ofcom’s risks and reputation.

We welcome individuals on track to obtain at least a 2:2 from any degree discipline and from any UK university.
