We are offering a 12-month Industrial Placement for an Electrical Design Engineer to work alongside our experienced engineering team on a range of renewable energy projects.

The role

This placement provides an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in electrical design, working on cutting-edge projects in the high-voltage and low-voltage systems for renewable energy infrastructure. You will have the chance to contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of electrical systems, while gaining valuable insights into the renewable energy industry.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Electrical Design Support: Assist the senior electrical design engineers in the development of electrical designs for high-voltage and low-voltage systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • CAD Drawing Creation: Contribute to the creation and modification of electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and other technical drawings using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • System Design Analysis: Perform calculations and simulations to support the design of electrical systems, ensuring that they are optimized for performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams, including civil and structural engineers, to ensure that the electrical designs are integrated effectively with other elements of the project.
  • Documentation: Assist in the preparation of technical reports, design specifications, and project documentation, ensuring that all records are accurate and up to date.
  • Project Support: Provide technical support during the execution phase of projects, including reviewing designs, addressing any issues that arise, and ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with the design.
  • Learning and Development: Participate in training sessions, seminars, and workshops to enhance your knowledge and understanding of electrical design, renewable energy systems, and industry standards.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring that designs are compliant with safety standards and that any potential risks are identified and addressed early in the design process.
