The Risk Industrial Placement Programme aims to give you exposure into Operational Risk, New Business Group, Credit risk and Market Risk.

Programme overview

We offer Industrial Placements to students who are interested in learning about the banking business. The programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, gain valuable on-the-job training, understand our culture and create new networks.

The first week of the placement is class-room based training which is provided to enhance your key technical skills and will enable you to perform in your team during the internship. Following the training week, you will join the Credit Risk department for the remaining of the placement year and complete tasks at a similar level of a first year Analyst. At the end of the placement, strong performers will receive offers to join our Graduate Programme.

Additional sessions during the year include soft skill sessions, product presentations, business overviews as well as social events.

Training

Placement students will receive extensive training to enhance the skills they need to perform well during their internship. As part of the corporate infrastructure placement programme, you will receive training which will include business overview presentations, structured class room seminars, internal training by business representatives and team- building with colleagues.

You will receive ongoing performance feedback and have access to division specific educational sessions designed to aid your professional development. Managers will focus on your career development and dedicate their time to coach and mentor you, helping you realise your full potential.

Throughout your Industrial Placement you will be supported both by a buddy, mentor and a dedicated programme management team.

What’s your role?

Working within the Credit Risk department you will be tasked with daily global reporting deliveries and provide support to the firm wide initiative of process automation. In addition to this you will perform ad-hoc analysis on the exposure portfolio and trend.

Through this programme, you will gain in-depth knowledge of Credit Risk Management which will provide the IP with an overview of rating analysis, trading limits, reporting and advice provided by the Credit Risk analysts in managing our counterparty exposure.

The Industrial Placement will offer exposure to risk managers across the firm’s global network and a wide breadth of disciplines, such as: Market Risk, New Business Group and Operational Risk Management.

Depending on the book of work candidates will also have the opportunity to be involved in Market Risk Reporting.

As a Placement Student, you should be required to complete a 12 month year in industry from June 2025 – June 2026 whilst enrolled at university.

The role requires appreciation of modern data science techniques.

Fluency in English is essential.
