The Nissan Sunderland plant is capable of manufacturing over 500,000 cars per year. Our Supply Chain Management team ensures cost-effective and efficient global supply into the UK. You will be part of this team, responsible for getting the right parts and vehicles to the right place, at the right time and at the right cost. It’s a complex, multi-dimensional operation, covering logistics, inventory control, project management and supplier management.
The role
There are a number of functions within Supply Chain Management at Nissan. Your exact roles and responsibilities will depend on the department in which you are placed. Regardless of your department, you will enjoy a varied, interesting and engaging placement with us, where we aim to rotate you between functions.
- PARTS CONTROL manages the inbound supply of components from a global supply base whilst maintaining lean inventory levels
- DESIGN CHANGE CONTROL work as an interface between the Design team and the manufacturing plant to ensure the smooth introduction of material changes
- PRODUCTION PLANNING work with internal production shops to schedule their production and interface with the Sales & Marketing team to understand customer demand
- INBOUND LOGISTICS liaise daily with logistics providers to design and engineer innovative and cost-effective global logistics solutions
- OUTBOUND LOGISTICS are responsible for the delivery of vehicles from all production sources to final dealer locations across international overseas markets
What you’ll be doing
You will be given a real job with real responsibilities in one of the disciplines within Supply Chain Management as soon as you join us. You will be assigned a mentor who will ensure you are learning at the required pace, eventually managing an end-to-end process for which you will have sole responsibility. You will be engaging with all levels both within the plant and laterally across the company. We aim to rotate our graduates during the two-year scheme, maximising their exposure to the business.
What you’ll need
- You must have, or expect to achieve, a 2:1 in a relevant undergraduate subject (e.g. Business, Social Sciences, Languages, Sciences, Maths, English, Humanities)
- You must have permission to live and work in the UK without restriction at the time of hire
- You should have strong analytical skills and be a data-driven thinker
- You will be a creative thinker, adept at problem solving
- You will possess excellent written and verbal communication
- You will be a natural team worker with a flexible working approach and the ability to self-motivate
- You will be able to adapt to a fast-paced organisation
- You should have excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications
- Knowledge of a foreign language may be an advantage
