NHS Property Services (NHSPS) have an exciting opportunity to gain experience this summer (or university holidays), working alongside the town planning team, the only dedicated and professional town planning team in the NHS.

The Town Planning team offer specialist town planning advice for our customers and to the wider NHS. This includes supporting planning appraisals, applications, protecting NHS rights to our buildings, development plan monitoring and responding to emerging planning policies.

Our team is the RTPI In-House Town Planning Team of the Year 2022, an RTPI Learning Partner, and an RICS APC Assessor.

Our internship placement is ideal for those currently engaged in an RTPI accredited planning related degree and/or a RICS accredited degree or due to pursue an RTPI or RICS accredited Masters.

Your role will involve the following

  • Preparing and producing planning appraisals
  • Development plan monitoring and assisting in responding to emerging planning policies
  • Assisting with technical advice/support
  • Supporting Senior team members when required with current projects

What we are looking for

  • A self-motivated, enthusiastic individual, with an interest in pursuing a career in a planning related field
  • An awareness of the current planning legislation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workloads

Where is the internship located?

  • Face to face in London office as required, alongside remote working

What are the requirements?

  • Essential - keen interest in Town Planning
  • Desirable - be currently engaged in an RTPI/RICS accredited Undergraduate or Master’s degree or due to commence an RTPI/RICS accredited Master's degree in Autumn 2024

When will it be, how long will it be for and what days of the week?

Options are:

  1. University holidays, one month, three days per week in Summer 2024 (in London office).
  2. One day per week for 6 months (in London office) from October 2024 - March/April 2025
  3. University holidays, two weeks full time placement in January/February 2025
