NHS Property Services enables excellent patient care by acting as a trusted advisor to the NHS and by providing the best estate solutions.   

We manage 2,700 properties with 6,300 customers across England, which accounts for approximately 10% of the total NHS estate. Our properties range from listed buildings to new integrated care centres and include hospitals, GP practices and offices. 

The Internal Communications Graduate will play a pivotal role in producing and delivering high quality  communication materials, events and engagement activities to a variety of NHPS audiences.  

You will work closely with the Internal Communications team and across the wider Comms & Marketing function to create, curate, and distribute key messages across various channels, driving employee engagement and organisational alignment. 

You will also be providing co-ordination and support to the Business Partners through delivering communication plans and project and event management to webinars, awards, conferences and roadshow events across England. You will be part of the communications partnering team working to produce high quality communications materials which engage and enable all NHSPS colleagues.  

The graduate role will be part of the company-wide graduate programme where they will be part of a cohort of graduates across the organisation and will undertake an induction, learning pathway, be matched with a mentor and have regular check-ins with the Talent team. 

What you will do  

  • Support the Internal Communications team to deliver and project manage critical business initiatives   
  • Work with Business Partners to support the development and roll out of communications activities, providing strong project management and coordination support  
  • Produce high quality internal communications materials including writing and editing content for the intranet, internal social channels, publications, newsletters, awards, toolkits  
  • Events manage the monthly CEO management webinars, annual awards and other high-profile events when required   
  • Liaise and act as first point of contact with key stakeholders to ensure events run smoothly and achieve objectives such as technology, event speakers and suppliers   
  • Maintain and deliver project documentation i.e. trackers/calendars, events queries, tracking budgets, event invitations, intranet pages, feedback surveys and delegate lists  
  • Support on the day of events (in-person and online) such as technical checks and set up of materials  
  • Research industry trends and future trends to provide suggestions and recommendations for the team to adopt (i.e. suppliers and venues for events)  
  • Be an active contributor to the wider marketing and communications function, including proactively contributing to the forward view with creative ideas  
  • Engage with the company-wide graduate programme through the learning pathway and other graduate activities 

Who you are  

  • You will have a degree level professional qualification in a relevant subject  
  • You will have strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills 
  • You will have proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a team, the ability to organise self and a high level of attention to detail  
  • You will demonstrate excellent writing skills and the ability to present clear and concise communications 
  • You will show curiosity to seek to understand more complex projects and offer ideas around communication solutions with a continuous learning mindset 
  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders  
  • Ability to travel to attend head offices (London, Birmingham, Stockport) for work and training purposes    
  • We would like to see experience in a fast-paced working environment and/or working with different people/teams to achieve shared objectives – this can be in a sports team or a community group  
  • Volunteering or community work experience 

Where you’ll be  

We have a hybrid model that involves travel to our offices and some remote working. Our main location for this role is London and there will be an expectation to travel across England on occasion, for training purposes, meetings with colleagues across the frontline and engaging with teams across hubs.
