The Wall Street Journal internship programme is an opportunity primarily for university students in their second year, to work in our award-winning newsroom in London. Final year students (undergraduate and graduate), enrolled in a degree programme by the application deadline are also eligible to apply. 

The role

You will work closely with editors on the London news hub, a team that captures breaking news and is crucial in setting up the U.S. day for the best possible reader experience across all platforms and for every article published. You will edit and publish news and feature articles at speed, with a focus on writing sharp headlines. You will also help curate our native platforms such as the WSJ app, home page and social feeds, and off-platforms such as Google showcase and WhatsApp.

There might also be some opportunities to work with other reporters and editors on spot news and to generate your own story ideas for features.

About you

You should be a self-starter who understands the needs of our audience across multiple platforms and is able to work independently under deadline pressure. We’re looking for someone who demonstrates excellent news judgment, strong editing and sharp writing skills and has a sense of the ideal visual presentation for various platforms. Familiarity with digital publishing and analytics tools is a plus.

You should have completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.

Fluency in English is required and fluency in at least one additional European language is strongly preferred. Applicants must have the right to work in the U.K.
