As part of the Advanced Analytics development programme, you’ll develop skills in different work situations, contributing to the development and improvement of processes, products and services in your department.
Over the course of 2-years, you’ll rotate around one of four business functions (Credit Risk, Risk Decision Science & Analytical Innovation, Data & Analytics, or Personalisation & Performance Marketing) with the option of studying toward role-related qualifications. You will build your skills and knowledge throughout your time on programme, gaining experience that will prepare you for a Risk Analyst Lead or Senior Analyst role or similar and help propel your career within Nationwide.
We’ll need you to build rewarding relationships across the organisation and externally to understand customer needs, resolve problems and support the delivery of the Society blueprint.
You’ll also attend development workshops and complete any set qualifications and training aligned to achieve your best.
The Advanced Analytics development programme spans three of our business functions: Risk, Chief Operating Office, and Customer, Brand and Engagement. When joining the Advanced Analytics development programme, you’ll specifically operate in either:
Credit Risk, enabling the Society to: lend safely, allowing customers to borrow money to purchase their home and help them manage their finances whilst keeping Nationwide safe and secure. They decide how Nationwide sets its lending criteria and who Nationwide lends to - for mortgages, loans and other credit products.
•Risk Data Science, developing cutting-edge industry award winning Machine Learning models that support optimising credit lending decisions, protect our customers from fraud and combat criminal activity. Our models help ensure we make the right decisions for both the customer and Nationwide.
Data & Analytics, providing data insights and analytics to support strategic programmes, customer channels and customer journeys, and drives enterprise adoption of the Data Governance policy and controls and enterprise data dictionary and data quality tooling.
Personalisation & Performance Marketing, developing predictive machine learning derived models using advanced analytics and data science techniques to help us understand what our customers need both now and in the future to develop a much more personalised and meaningful approach to our engagement with our customers spanning multiple channels and contact opportunities across the year.

What you’ll be doing
On the Advanced Analytics programme, you’ll develop towards the role of either a Risk Analyst Lead or Senior Analyst over a 2-year period gaining the knowledge, skills and network our Risk, Chief Operating Office, and Customer, Brand & Engagement functions require.
The programme journey will focus on developing well-rounded analytical expertise including data science, advanced coding, and visualisation skills (Power BI) underpinned by building a strong understanding of the business function and the application of technical capabilities.
• Credit Risk participants will have exposure to providing deep insight into credit products and provide recommendations for policy amendments
• Risk Data Science participants will have exposure the AI model builds across credit, fraud and money laundering.
• Data & Analytics participants will have exposure to analytics, AI, data engineering, and data platform across multiple teams/projects.
• Personalisation & Performance Marketing participants will be exposed to predictive modelling, campaign marketing analytics. Optimization of model performance and development of marketing campaigns.
To support your journey to become a Risk Analyst Lead or Senior Analyst you’ll have the opportunity to gain role-related qualifications.
You’ll gain access to a bespoke 18-month learning journey to develop core business skills that complement role-specific development and you’ll meet and work alongside a range of diverse like-minded individuals from across the organisation.

Entry requirements:
• Knowledge and understanding of advanced statistical/mathematical techniques
• Proficiency in programming languages, SAS and Python preferred
• Experience in manipulating and deriving insight from data,
• Passion for applying analytics to unlock business problems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to understand and interpret business data in a variety of areas;
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across the business
