We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Family Paralegal to join our amazing organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support by taking initial instructions from clients and assessing the merits of your client’s cases calculating their eligibility for legal aid, providing legal support to the Supervisor, including drafting documents, conducting legal research and managing case files.
The role
- Processing funding applications & completing legal aid applications
- Going through Means and Merit assessments with clients
- Taking witness statements and drafting documents for court
- Instruct counsel, agents and experts when required
- Readiness to train in Advocacy
- Ensure all court orders are read and actioned accordingly
- Ensure all files are submitted for billing
- Any other ad hoc duties as required
Person specification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- Completed your LPC
- Experience of drafting statements
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Self-motivated, clear thinking and able to carry out case work accurately
- Proactive approach with the ability to work independently
