What you’ll be doing
Are you interested in a career in Economics after university? Our one-year placement programme is a great opportunity to learn on the job in a large, evolving organisation that spends around £5billion a year to build and improve the strategic road network.
Working in the Strategic Planning and Analysis division of our Customer, Strategy and Communications directorate, you’ll learn how we provide specialist insight to deliver better value for money from our investments, policies and standards and help the business understand the economic implications of its decisions.
You’ll gain valuable experience supporting us to deliver strategic and tactical improvements to our business that help us to connect the country.

What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll also need to meet these essential entry requirements:
Currently in your second year of an undergraduate degree and expect to achieve a minimum of a 2:2 in any subject
Assessment centres will take place in January and February.
To be eligible for a placement, you must be available to attend the 2-day induction, 30th June – 1st July.
All offers for our placement programmes are subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including Right to Work, reference, and DBS criminal record checks.
Due to the salary level of this role, we cannot offer sponsorship for the position for individuals that don't have the Right to Work in the UK. Successful candidates will require Right to Work for the duration of the programme.
