As a Structural Engineer you will be working on a range of buildings, civil, coastal defence, flood alluviation, highway and power projects from concept to construction. You will gain responsibility not only for design development but also for quality standards and programme & budget.

Responsibilities will include

  • Delivering pragmatic structural engineering solutions.
  • Designing and detailing structures that are safe, economical, practical and sustainable.
  • Successfully carrying out structural calculations, analysis and modelling.
  • Effectively communicating through sketches, drawings, digital modelling, calculations, meetings, presentations, discussions, emails, written reports and electronic messages.
  • Working as part of a team on interesting projects large and small to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
  • Undertaking structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages.
  • Producing good quality technical drawings, reports and surveys.
  • Working effectively and collaboratively with teams.
  • Learning design methods, codes of practice, software and construction techniques.
  • Identifying efficient and innovative ways of working more productively.

A bit about the team

Our structural engineers work collaboratively with a diverse range of disciplines such as civil, geotechnical, highways, water & environmental, to create sustainable solutions which contribute to the well-being of society.

From the moment you join us, you’ll receive appropriate training. You will be assigned a chartered mentor, who will guide you to meet the objectives of your professional training agreement. We’ll support you on your journey to gaining chartered status with your chosen institution.

Required for the position of Structural Engineer

  • Experience in designing structures to Eurocode standards.
  • Strong computer skills and experience of structural design software such as Revit and Tekla.
  • Experience in structural engineering design and construction.
  • Ability to produce accurate technical drawings and good report writing.

Preferred, but not required

  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent numerical skills.
  • Proficient in using your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Capable of planning your work logically to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Competent in working collaboratively and in teams.
  • Mature to take responsibility for the quality of your work, for your own learning and professional development.
