Training Contract 2027

At Moore Barlow, we want our Trainee Solicitors to thrive as they begin their journey to becoming our partners and leaders of the future.

Applications for our 2027 Trainee Solicitor programme are now open and will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 30 March 2025.  All applications will be reviewed after the closing date so please don’t rush to submit your application. Instead, do your research and make sure you submit your best possible application demonstrating everything you have learnt about us.

You can apply for either a place on our paid Summer Vacation Scheme or to attend one of our Assessment Days. The Vacation Scheme will take place at the end of June during which candidates will spend one week in the business working in one team.  At the end of the week candidates will attend an Assessment Day in our Southampton office.  For those candidates choosing to apply for a place on one of our Assessment Days, these will take place in July in our Southampton and Woking offices. Regardless of which route you choose, once we have reviewed all applications shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a live video interview.  We will then invite our final shortlist to either the Vacation Scheme or an Assessment Day.

Location

We have offices in Guildford, London, Lymington, Richmond, Southampton, and Woking and as a trainee we expect you to spend time across more than one location. This will enable you to experience not only different working environments and build your network within the firm, but it will also provide with you the opportunity to work in different practice areas ranging from Corporate to Family to Medical Negligence, working alongside our expert lawyers and different clients.  As a result, you can be sure to receive a varied and first-class training experience.

We don't expect you to choose you preferred location now as things can change.  However, the application form will ask you to indicate whether you would prefer to be based in our Surrey locations of Guildford, Richmond and Woking or our Hampshire locations of Lymington and Southampton. Whichever option you choose, you will have the opportunity to work in any office.

Why consider us for your training?

At Moore Barlow we are looking to be the career firm, a place for long term legal careers and as a trainee solicitor you are at the very beginning of that journey.

We provide our trainees with the opportunity to work with our experts and be involved in exciting, challenging work with responsibility from the outset.  With the opportunity of four seats across multiple and diverse practice areas you can expect to be involved in work which not only develops your technical skills and knowledge but also your soft skills to help you become the best possible lawyer.

What our trainees say

The Trainee experience has been both challenging and immensely rewarding.  Throughout my training contract I have been immersed in real client work, gaining hands-on experience in a wide range of legal areas.  Moore Barlow’s supportive environment has been instrumental in my development. Whether it’s formal training sessions or informal chats with colleagues, I’ve always felt encouraged to ask questions, explore areas of interest, and grow both personally and professionally.  This journey has solidified my passion not just to be a solicitor, but a Moore Barlow solicitor, and I’m excited about the future as I continue to work towards qualification at the firm.”  Alice Carr, Final Seat Trainee Solicitor
