Our Internships are 12 months long (although some roles have the flexibility to be shorter) and during your placement, we’ll make you an integral part of our team and give you a real job – with real responsibilities – from day one. We hope to help you expand your horizons and will encourage your personal and professional development.  

 We want to make sure you get the most from your time with us. That’s why once you join we’ll work out ambitious but achievable goals for you. Then through the support of a buddy and regular reviews with your manager, we’ll help you achieve them.   

Life in Research & Development (R&D)

As an intern at Mondelēz International you will be responsible and accountable for your project(s). During the placement you will be expected to plan and execute tests of various scale (e.g. benchtop, pilot plant, and factory) as appropriate for your project as well as to coordinate informal sensory assessment. Key deliverables would be to produce technical reports/presentations and periodically communicate your key findings to stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to interact with the wider R&D Community, other business functions and external suppliers. In addition to this you may also be expected to support other ongoing project activities in and outside of your immediate team. For some roles, occasional international travel may be required. 

Bournville  

This is one of our key global chocolate technical centres within our global Research & Development function. Teams work on a variety of chocolate-based discovery, development & deployment projects supporting our various markets around the world. 

Packaging Development & Deploy  

 This is an opportunity to be a part of our European R&D Packaging Team, to gain relevant work experience and have a real impact within a fast-paced packaging FMCG environment – partnering cross functionally with Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement and other R&D functions to pioneer and deliver winning packaging innovations for markets around the world which make a true difference to our consumers and to the planet.Our Packaging teams bring together scientific knowledge and creative minds to develop new and existing packaging for our world famous chocolate brands like Cadbury, Milka & Toblerone or our regional jewel brands like Marabou or Freia. You are likely to find yourself supporting the development of packaging to give us a competitive edge, enhance supply chain performance or make our packaging more sustainable. 

Essential candidate requirements 

  • Studying towards a degree in packaging, design, engineering or related disciplines 
  • 2:1 degree - predicted end result (or equivalent) 
  • A sound knowledge of materials basics and a keen interest in packaging 
  • Logical, analytical and inquisitive with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, finding creative solutions to solve problems 
  • Demonstrate strong communication and presentation abilities 
  • Able to work well both independently and as part of a team 
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn, take ownership and accountability to push your own learning & development  
  • Proficient in MS Office applications

Starting salary: £23,000

Closing date for applications is midday Monday 4th November 2024.

We will be holding our final stage assessment center for this role in-person at our Bournville offices on Thursday 5th December 2024. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
