The Infrastructure Technology group leverages advanced technology that enables the firm to run our business. Working in small teams, specialists provide the computing hardware, software, network resources and services that enable the firm to process over two million trades per day. Interns within Infrastructure will have a chance to work on platforms such as the Firm’s networks, operating systems mobile applications and other end-user applications.
The roles
We are looking for interns in the following areas of Infrastructure Technology.
Information Security
responsible for assessing and mitigating information security risks for the firm in line with business objectives. This includes designing and implementing security controls around networks, cloud, data, operating systems, third party vendors, and others for global deployment.
Job Responsibilities
- Automate and script tasks and tools to be used by analysts and engineers
- Development, and scripting skills required (Python, BASH scripting, Powershell, other)
- Support a team of specialists in delivering security technologies including: vulnerability scanning, password vault, intrusion detection and others
- Contribute to the Information Security Wiki in order to develop a platform for engineering and operations collaboration
- Organize, visualize, and analyze infosec datasets to glean insights, spot trends and suggest process improvements
- Collect and report on metrics to track progress/completion of tasks
Qualifications, skills and requirements
- Minimum of 2:1 grade or higher
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and other infrastructure such as Firewalls, Proxies, DNS, Wi-Fi, and others.
- Technical Skills – Unix, AWS, Jenkins, Wireshark, Elastic/Kibana, Tableau/Grafana/PowerBI
- Familiarity with hardening standards related to Network devices such as SANS, & CIS
Cloud Platform
responsible for enabling the firm’s application developers, quantitative analysts, and data scientists, to take advantage of cloud native capabilities on public cloud platforms, which allows them to iterate quickly and build elastic systems, while ensuring security and resiliency.
Job Responsibilities
- Support team of specialists who architect, develop and maintain internal cloud platform components, frameworks and offerings
- Work with team to architect, develop and maintain solutions for customers in Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services
- Assist with implementation of CI/CD pipelines which include application tests, security tests, and gates
- Implement availability, security, performance monitoring and alerting of cloud solutions
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Minimum of 2:1 grade or higher
- Experience developing collaboratively, including infrastructure as code, preferably in python
- Systems engineering knowledge, including understanding of Linux, security, and networking
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Self-starter able to execute independently, on a deadline, and under pressure
Compute Engineering
The Compute Engineering team sits within our Infrastructure technology group and responsible for enabling the firm’s application developers, quantitative analysts, and data scientists, to take advantage of cloud native capabilities on public cloud platforms, which allows them to iterate quickly and build elastic systems, while ensuring security and resiliency.
Job Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing cloud-native solutions
- Developing automated deployment cloud infrastructure and applications
- Management and operation of cloud environments
- Manage systems efficiently at scale through standardization, automation, testing, and in depth monitoring
- Develop self-service pipelines for deploying infrastructure and platforms that developers and portfolio managers can integrate with
- Drive the elimination of operational tasks through automation and self service
- Drive efficient utilization of resources through metrics and reporting
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Minimum of 2:1 grade or higher
- Strong coding skills, in one or more languages including Python
- Familiarity with monitoring applications using cloud native, open source, and 3rd party tools
- Cloud templating and automation tools for deploying and managing infrastructure
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such Airflow and Luigi
- Experience with public cloud identity and access management
- Knowledge of Linux systems administration, networking, and security, including automated configuration and state management, and orchestration across systems
- Experience working with containers and container services (eg docker, podman, kubernetes) is also a significant plus as is familiarity with tools for testing build automation
- Experience interfacing with REST APIs as well as developing REST APIs is highly desired
- Understanding of encryption, PKI, and certificate and key management is a plus
- Experience working with bare metal servers and public cloud technologies, such as, but not limited to AWS, GCP and/or Azure.
- Excellent written and verbal communications with an ability to summarize and translate between business and technical contexts
- Degree in a STEM or related field
