MI5 safeguards the UK against threats such as terrorism, espionage, cyber and sabotage. We investigate suspect individuals and organisations in the UK to obtain, collate, analyse and assess secret intelligence relating to these threats. Alongside our British Intelligence partners MI6 and GCHQ, we provide the UK government with the information they need to protect national security. As a Business Enabler, you’ll gain experience, build relationships and grow your knowledge while providing mission-critical support. This isn’t a development programme – it’s an opportunity for you to get involved, discover new, exciting career prospects, and ensure the wider intelligence business has what it needs to protect our national security. So, whether you’ve just graduated or you’re looking for a career change, you’ll do varied and vital work at the very heart of our organisation.
You’ll collaborate with a range of business areas but you won’t be rotated around different departments. Instead, your first post will typically last two to three years. It could be Finance, Legal, HR, Project Management, Compliance, Recruitment, Data Management, or something else. Wherever you’re based, you’ll bring your people skills and a keen eye for detail to a team that values your work. And at the end of your posting, you’ll take full control of your career with opportunities to apply for a range of roles across MI5.
To join, you’ll need (or be expecting) a 2:2 degree or higher in any subject, or have had a previous permanent role where you’ve developed relevant skills including organisation, teamworking and problem-solving. There’s no one ‘type’ of person we’re after; Business Enablers come from all kinds of backgrounds. You’ll get an induction when you start, and have your own mentor and plenty of training. Candidates must normally have been resident in the UK for seven out of the last ten years. This is particularly important if you were born outside the UK.
