Use your excellent organisational skills to keep our operations running smoothly.

MI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats. Through our protective security arm, we provide advice and guidance to government, businesses and other organisations about how to keep themselves safe. A role in MI5 means you’ll do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouraging environment, making a real difference to UK national security.

We’re looking for Administrative Officers to help keep our operations running smoothly. As the backbone of our organisation, you’ll have lots of different responsibilities and work across a variety of departments, helping us to keep the country and its people safe.

Day to day, you’ll do everything from organising meetings and booking travel in support of vital operations, to managing information and records, so a keen eye for detail is crucial. As someone who loves to help others, you’ll take supporting our intelligence officers and visitors in your stride. Forget what you know about admin roles. The work you do with us will have a hugely positive impact and is vital to our mission.

Highly organised and methodical, you’ll proactively provide essential support to the people in your team, and the wider organisation. And when it comes to qualifications, all you’ll need is two GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, at grades A*-C/9-4. Whether you’ve just finished school or you’re returning to work after a break, we’ll provide all the necessary training to help you do the job and develop your future potential. At MI5, you’ll get every opportunity to build a fulfilling, long-term career.

As well as all the training you need to get the best start in your role, and ongoing training to help you thrive, you’ll benefit from 25 days’ holiday on top of Bank Holidays, and an excellent pension scheme. A season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and flexible working are all on offer – along with full access to our onsite gym. Plus, we’re an inclusive employer which values difference and strives to create a working environment that’s welcoming and encouraging – where everyone can be themselves. Bottom line? It’s a fulfilling role, and as you support others, you’ll be part of a friendly team who’ll look after you too.
