We are looking to recruit students for a 52 week student placement with the Metropolitan Police Service. Counter Terrorism Policing
Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity. Job summary
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) HQ are looking for student placements to support delivery of critical change to key strategic HR initiatives, the scope of this activity encapsulates the full recruitment lifecycle, an improved national workforce data model, and will include alternative avenues towards talent and attraction. It will combine the delivery of immediate service improvements to stabilise the current workforce challenges and the development of sustainable longer-term transformational changes.
The objectives of the HR strategic initiatives are to:
- Ensure CTP continues to be to an efficient and effective organisation by maintaining a full complement of staff;
- Ensure that CTP attracts and retains a skilled and highly motivated workforce through its recruitment experience and employee value model; and
- Ensure that diversity, inclusion and equity is at the forefront of all recruitment and retention initiatives across CTP.
There will be significant scope to gain experience within our HR provision, the successful candidate will also gain exposure to working across a national network with collaboration across multiple organisations to support delivering organisational change initiatives.
The successful applicant will receive support from subject matter experts and colleagues across the network as well as the immediate team.
Key tasks
We are looking for someone who is a supportive individual, passionate about developing their skills and experience within Human Resources environment, and is eager to learn and take on new opportunities. You should be able to demonstrate how you can provide proactive support and be able to evidence some of the key skills required for this role.
The role includes many rewarding responsibilities, such as:
- Engaging with various teams across to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Assisting across the HR Pillar in the day-to-day maintenance and updating of documentation such as key logs and trackers.
- Supporting the HR Pillar in the organisation of key meetings and correspondence. This might include governance boards, minute taking, editing key papers and proactively managing actions.
- Share your ideas and contribute to the delivery of HR initiatives by supporting design and process models and procedure documentation. This includes effectively obtaining data and providing some analysis.
- Working to support the wider HR team in coordination of key activities. This might include the facilitation of CPD events, recruitment exhibitions, and collaboration events.
- Support the work of the wider HR Pillar by disseminating information and communications to all staff and key stakeholders.
Key skills
The post holder must have:
- Confident using a range of systems and tools such as MS Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning skills, ability to quickly respond to changing priorities and identify potential risks or issues to delivery.
- Be an active team player and happy to be flexible to support the project or programme you are deployed to across the priority areas of activity.
- Ability and desire to deliver in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
