We are looking to recruit students for a 52 week student placement with the Metropolitan Police Service. Counter Terrorism Policing

At Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) our purpose is clear – to keep people safe from terrorism. To do this we are constantly evolving; developing new and innovative ways to counter the ever shifting terrorist threat.

Central to this is our Business Design practice who combine strategy, organisation design, strategy and operational model design to help define the future shape of CTP and drive transformational change. The Business Design practice is growing and we’re looking for experienced individuals with the right blend of critical thinking, creativity, insight, agility, and leadership to join this forward-thinking community of problem solvers.

As a Business Design Assistant you’ll leverage new technologies, varied datasets, and specialist operational knowledge to undertake detailed analysis and develop evidence based solutions to some of CTP’s most complex challenges. You’ll collaborate and build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders from across the public sector, playing a pivotal role in reacting and reshaping the country’s CT approach.

The Business Design practice has three levels of experience that you will support:

  • Student Placement – Business Design Assistant
  • Entry - Junior Business Design Analyst
  • Experienced – Business Design Analyst
  • Senior – Business Design Lead

As a Business Design Assistant you will be an integral part of the Business Design Team; working collaboratively with Junior Business Design Analysts to support Business Analyst led activity.

You will work to support a Business Design Analyst, working collaboratively and with the support of the Business Design team to:

  • Apply creative problem-solving approaches to a broad range of business challenges and design questions
  • Form relationships with relevant stakeholders across the organisation, including subject matter experts and operational colleagues
  • Support in activity to gather user requirements and maintain robust governance of evolving design documentation and associated project logs
  • Support in the organisation and delivery of workshops with key stakeholders at any level of seniority
  • Support in the identification and collection of relevant data from teams across the business for qualitative and quantitative data analysis, spotting patterns and drawing data-driven recommendations
  • Support in the production of documents describing business processes, gaps, and opportunities, bringing data to life using graphs, pictures, or diagrams

  • Interest in matters pertaining to national security and awareness of the UK intelligence community

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Location: Whilst the post and the team is located in Central London, and some time in London will be expected as part of this role, we operate a hybrid way of working and welcome applications from candidates anywhere in the UK
